![]() ![]() We would like to thank our Russian friend and contributor Yuri for introducing us to the work of this artist and supplying many of the images. He spent all his working life in Odesa, where he maintained his studio, though in later years he travelled extensively to attend ex libris exhibitions and events.Īs Julia Romanenkova and her Ukrainian co-authors wrote in a recent article, The Importance of the Ex-Libris in Maintaining Intaglio Printing Techniques in Ukrainian Graphic Arts at the Turn of the 20th and 21st Centuries, ‘The Odessa cultural centre in the field of ex-libris is represented primarily by the creative work of David Bekker, who can justly be called one of the most significant of Ukraine’s ex-librists.’ (5 volumes).Together with fellow Ukrainian artist Sergey Kirnitskiy, whose work you can see here, David Bekker was the leading exponent of modern erotic ex libris or bookplate design, his work being commissioned by clients from all over the world, and his limited edition engravings being much sought after at international specialist exhibitions.īekker grew up in Odesa on the Black Sea coast, and studied art first at Odesa Art College and then at the Art Institute in Kharkiv, where he specialised in etching, drypoint, aquatint and mezzotint. Sauppe, Zur Erinnerung an Meineke und Bekker (1872) This article incorporates text from a publication now in the public domain: Chisholm, Hugh, ed."Editing Byzantine historiographical texts". The CFHB volumes edited by Bekker became infamous for the misprints and errors and August Heisenberg, according to Franz Dölger, once said that he must have revised those texts 'lying on the sofa with the cigar in his mouth'. Reinsch noted that he wrote prefaces only to those authors he thought "worth", and in any case never exceeding a single page which he used to utter all his displeasure. Bekker numbers have become the standard way of referring to the works of Aristotle and the Corpus Aristotelicum. īekker confined himself entirely to manuscript investigations and textual criticism he contributed little to the extension of other types of scholarship. The only Latin authors edited by him were Livy (1829–1830) and Tacitus (1831). His best known editions are those of Plato (1816–1823), Oratores Attici (1823–1824), Aristotle (1831–1836), Aristophanes (1829), and twenty-five volumes of the Corpus Scriptorum Historiae Byzantinae. Anything like a complete list of his works would occupy too much space, but it may be said that his industry extended to nearly the whole of Greek literature with the exception of the tragedians and lyric poets. Some of the fruits of his researches were published in the Anecdota Graeca (3 vols, 1814–1821), but the major results are to be found in the enormous array of classical authors edited by him. For several years, between 18, he travelled in France, Italy, England and parts of Germany, examining classical manuscripts and gathering materials for his great editorial labours. In 1810 he was appointed professor of philosophy in the University of Berlin. August Immanuel Bekker ( – 7 June 1871) was a German philologist and critic.īorn in Berlin, Bekker completed his classical education at the University of Halle under Friedrich August Wolf, who considered him as his most promising pupil. ![]()

If you unfortunately die and get kicked out of the game, you can immediately be part of another arena, so there is no waiting. One game can last up to fifteen, twenty minutes, or more, depending on your skills. The great thing is our Rules of Survival ESP feature allows you to see all items and people so you’ll never die again. It also means, every moment of the game is filled with thrilling action and that you are engaged with foes at all times. The more you move closer to the center the lesser the damage, but that also takes you to the frontlines amid raging battle. The circle, where you play, deals damage to you if you are near its border. Like most of the games in the Battle Royale category, the map is surrounded by a dome which restricts movement, meaning you can’t go roaming around, away from the battlefield. Either you go defensive and wait for the massacre to end and then creep up to kill the survivors or you lock horns with your opponents from the get-go. Once you hit the ground, you need to hurry up and collect weapons, armor, and other vital resources to survive the coming ordeal.Īfter that, whatever strategy you choose to adopt is up to you. As a player, you get airdropped at a strategic location on the map. However, since the mobile version is widely played, I will talk about that. PC players cannot play with mobile players, but we have a large fanbase on both platforms. Collect a huge variety of ammunition, drive around in vehicles, and upgrade your character to look unique as in favorite games like Fortnite and Battlegrounds. The good thing is that instead of jumping in alone, you can initially team up with 4 of your friends to have the upper hand once you enter the vast island in the game universe. Simple, right? Not really! Over 150 million people play the game on Android and iOS, and when an island filled with 120 players at a time, you can imagine how much of a challenge it can be to overcome all of them. The basic concept and the goal are not new to survive until you are the last one standing. The Rules of Survival Hack which is now available on PC gives you a PUBG feel with more players. If you were looking for a game that resembles the type of battle portrayed in The Hunger Games franchise, you are in luck. Rules of Survival: An Exciting Battle Royale Genre Game
